k30x-hunt The hunt is on.

About

The hunt is on. Good luck.

k30x-hunt is a somewhat yearly occurring puzzle hunt with smaller, shorter events in between. Since it was much requested, we try to keep alive past hunts for future enjoyment. Currently, the years 2019 and 2020/2021 are available. 2019 has a very interesting start, but honestly overall gets somewhat boring. 2020 was conceptualized too hard and was not completely solved in 2020. Thus, in 2021, instead of working on a new hunt, we extended the 2020 one with additional paths and hints.

Some general notes about k30x-hunt: Everything is solvable digitally, on some occasions there might be easier options available through exploration in the real world, in these cases the same option is available in several locations. DO NOT BREAK STUFF OF WHICH YOU'RE NOT 100% SURE belongs to k30x-hunt!!! This applies to digital and physical situations, every time you would need to persuade a service to give up information involuntarily, we've laid out clear signs that this service belongs to k30x-hunt. If you don't notice any such sign, leave the service alone! (update: Due to prior incidents, these signs won't be indirect anymore, but rather in the style of @k30x-hunt: I've noticed you're using an insecure web server. Please update! Attackers could be able to obtain private user information.) Finally, most of our information contains several hints leading to different pathways, while some paths are more helpful than others, we don't have dead ends, every path either merges with another path or provides additional hints for other puzzles. Whenever we depend on externally provided services, we do monitor their availability, if one service becomes permanently unavailable, you will be able to work around this. Not wanting to spoil too much, you will get access to some sort of service to track your progress and work around unavailable services very soon after starting any k30x-hunt. This service additionally provides us with statistics on how the overall progress is going.

Lastly, try not spoiling any other hunters. This is supposed to be fun for everyone. While we won't go after published solutions, be it correct or incorrect, we know that some people try to intentionally misguide - which we have mixed feelings about - even though it is quite amusing from an outside perspective. Solving in groups may be more rewarding than alone. Feel free to reach out with your progress or feedback, we won't provide hints, but are interested in how everyone is doing (and random strangers on the internet telling us 'I enjoyed part XY.' or 'You goofed up with Z, that was dumb.' makes all the work we put into our hunts worth it).

The hunt is on. Good luck.
